He Knows My Name
“Remember that a person’s name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language.”
– Dale Carnegie
Have you ever read the book How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie? It’s an oldie (1936) but a goodie. If you are looking to read a self-help book, and you want to know how to make people like you, influence them, and master human relations, this is the book for you. I may or may not have some social anxieties and this book has helped me in a lot of ways. One suggestion he gives is remembering other’s names.
When someone calls you by name, how do you feel? Important, validated, loved…
Knowing the importance of a name, when Heavenly Father appeared to Joseph Smith, Enos, and Moses, he lovingly called them by their first name.
The wonderful truth we can learn from these scripture accounts is that HE KNOWS OUR NAME.
Elder Neal A. Maxwell said: “I testify to you that God has known you individually … for a long, long time. He has loved you for a long, long time. He not only knows the names of all the stars; He knows your names and all your heartaches and your joys!”
Whenever I feel alone, afraid, downhearted, or like nobody understands, I try to remember that he know exactly what I am going through and he know exactly how to comfort me.
Even when I am feeling joy, contentment and peace, I remember that He knows me perfectly, is in the details of my life and has blessed me with all my individual needs.
He knows your name too, he knows you intimately and is very aware of your joys, desires, needs, sorrows, struggles and triumphs.
He is at the door knocking and calling us by name to come unto Him. We can answer that call and it will be the best thing we could ever do.
We can get down on our knees, call Him by name in prayer and express all of our desires, thoughts and gratitude to him. We can call Him by name when we feel his blessings upon us. We can call Him by name when we feel the sting of sin. We can call Him by name when we are tired and frustrated and need his helping hand. He is there for us at all times and will answer our call.
Happy Sunday Friends,
